Before you apply

We welcome applications from BAME artists based in the UK, all ages are welcome, You may be an aspiring artist, an emerging artist, still in training, you may also apply if you have had some professional experience and need advice moving forward in your career.  All levels welcome.

 

 

You’ll be paired with professionals, with a similar voice category to yours, who have extensive performance experience and who have performed with leading Opera companies and orchestras around the world. You will have two sessions with your professional who will offer you support, advice and coaching. There will be up to two weeks between each session to enable you to work on what you have learned. The sessions will take place using an online platform such as zoom, Skype or google hangouts.

Application Process

 

Please ensure you complete every section on the application, incomplete applications may be automatically rejected.  We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience. Please consider which of the following categories apply to you:

 

A) Aspiring  Artist - This is a person who has no professional (paid) experience or formal training but has had some voice lessons and is seriously considering becoming a professional classical singer.

 

B) Training Artist - This is someone who is receiving professional private tuition in singing or is currently training at an institute of higher learning.

 

C) Emerging Artist - You have been performing paid and unpaid roles in the music industry for less than five years, but your work is not consistent.

 

D) Established Artist - You are working professionally in paid roles, receiving regular work or auditions and just looking for some career development advice.

 

Audition Process

  1. You will need the facilities to be able to record a video. 

  2. Please introduce yourself with your full name before you begin to sing and announce the piece you have chosen to sing. The video should not be longer than 5 minutes.

  3. Prepare one  song or aria of your choice, to the best of your ability. Your piece must be classical and can be in any language. You can submit something unaccompanied or use a backing track (there are many accompaniments found in YouTube). 

  4. Your video should be uploaded to youtube or another video sharing website so that you can provide a link to the video in your application.

  5. Please provide a headshot, shoulders and above, full face.

  6. Please provide a CV of your experience with singing/performing to date.

  7. Please write a paragraph detailing how you would benefit from this scheme, or what it would mean to you.

 

If you can provide all of the above, you’re ready to start your application! 

 

We anticipate that there will be high demand for this programme and unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to every application with feedback. However, once you have submitted your application, we would like you to become part of the Pegasus family, we will add your details to a list of artists we would like to invite to our future concerts and opera performances, we will from time to time offer free tickets to shows  and keep you on our database sharing opportunities as they arise and inviting you to future auditions and schemes that we are holding.

 

Those that are successful will be informed via email and paired with a mentor to  arrange the dates where you can undertake the training sessions.

Application deadline: 3 August 2020. Applications submitted past this deadline will not be considered.
